IFPE Download

Image
The 2020 IFPE Show is going on this week in Las Vegas.  And, even though some of our team members, including me, have chosen not to attend the event, our coverage goes on thanks to those members of our team who are there. I would like to direct your attention to our IFPE Download section of our Fluid Power World website.  With Paul Heney on the ground at IFPE and with Mary Gannon and Ken Korane posting the information, our coverage goes on. It is unfortunate for our industry that the current health crisis involving the COVID-19 virus coincides with our industry's biggest event - IFPE.  I really wish that I could have been there shaking hands with current customers and meeting new prospective advertisers at the show and continuing to learn about our technology and the solutions provided by our industry companies. What our handling of this situation shows is that our team is flexible, professional, and quite involved and integrated into the fluid power industry. ...

Staying Current

Image
One of the things that one learns from working for a very long time is the importance of staying current.  Even though a person works for many years in the same industry and perhaps in the same job, once they drop out/retire/ leave, they can fall behind quickly. This phenomena is especially true as change happens more rapidly.  Technology is changing at an ever-increasing rate.  For that reason, continuation in an industry and at a job is really important for success in your career. If your career is fluid power including design engineering, maintenance, supply chain, marketing, or any other profession, staying current with the fluid power technology is critical.  Staying current with communication technology is equally important as social media, YouTube, digital communication, cell phone communication all continue to evolve. This is where we at Fluid Power World can help.  Not only do we offer the state-of-the-art content but we serve it to our audience ...

Optimize Your Social Media

Image
I have many discussions with clients about the use of Social Media to promote their company and products to the markets served by fluid power technology.  My advice almost always encourages the use of Social Media by manufacturers and distributors of fluid power components. Twitter seems to be the most effective platform to send out and receive product information and it is very easy to use.  LinkedIn, while some people refer to it as a job seekers platform, I think actually functions just as well as Twitter for sending out and receiving product information. We are just getting started with Instagram with a Fluid Power World account so I am not sure how effective that will be but I think it will help our portfolio. What I would like to propose to all fluid power companies is for you to consider having us at Fluid Power World and WTWH Media manage your social media accounts.  We offer packages of Social Media Management starting at $500 per month but that...

Welcoming Our Partners to the Fluid Power Technology Conference

Image
It pays to have good partners and for the 2018 Fluid Power Technology Conference, we have some excellent partners.  For the third straight year, we will be partnering with one of the nation's great engineering schools, the Milwaukee School of Engineering. The campus of MSOE serves as our host for the 2018 Fluid Power Technology Conference  and they have done a great job of hosting this event in each of the past two years.  Their very fine staff and faculty have provided us with not only an excellent location for this important fluid power event but they have contributed some very interesting and timely content. They will be stepping up their efforts in May 2018 by doing some of the actual seminar sessions and adding a full-day basics of hydraulics course on Monday, May 14, 2018 right on the MSOE campus. Visit our website for more information on how your technical people can enroll in that course.   Here is a link Another great partner who has also bee...

Websites Designed to Serve

Image
Our Fluid Power digital media network consists of five websites and the network is designed to serve the informational needs of our engineering audience.  It all starts with great content and I would like to share some of that with you now. From our newest website, Sealing & Contamination Control Tips , here is an article that explains Beta Ratio.   What is Beta Ratio?   To any reader with an interest in fluid power filtration, this article will have meaning.  This is the entry point into our digital media network for those individuals. One of our websites is dedicated to hose, fittings, assemblies, quick couplings, crimpers, saws, and everything that makes fluid conveyance possible.   Hose Assembly Tips features articles such as How do you clean hydraulic hose assemblies?   This is the where technical fluid power buyers and specifiers enter our digital media network. All of the content found on our websites including the two listed abov...
