Women in Fluid Power

We as a staff at Fluid Power World are very proud of our event, the Fluid Power Technology Conference, held at MSOE in Milwaukee and held last week.  We had many exhibitor/sponsors, excellent sessions, and great networking.

One of the sessions that I am particularly proud to have presented was our opening keynote session on Wednesday titled "Women in Fluid Power" moderated by our newly promoted Chief Editor, Mary Gannon.

The panel consisted of four professional Women in Fluid Power including Celine Cabana, Technical Account Manager, FD-GROUPS America; Rachel Schmidt, Application Engineer ISO 9001 Administrator, Elwood Fluid Power; Taryn West, V.P. K.R. West Co.; and Caryes AllanV.P. Higginson Equipment.  They all did a great job of discussing their roles in fluid power and some of the considerations for getting to where they are today.

My big takeaway from the discussion is this:  We all face barriers in our professionals careers whether they are real or perceived.  Perception is reality in this case.  Having self confidence and being a part of a support group or groups will help all of us to prevail and thrive.  All of the panelists in this discussion, exuded self confidence and a complete understanding that barriers to success do exist.

We will have a video of this panel available to anyone wishing to watch the entire discussion.  It was a major success at the 2018 Fluid Power Technology Conference and we are grateful to all four of the participants for sharing their stories and thoughts.  Also, great job Mary Gannon and congratulations to you in your new position!

Closing Out

 Well, this is my last week of my fluid power career.  I have thanked and recognized many people in my previous posts but I want to thank and acknowledge Scott McCafferty, Managing Director of WTWH Media and friend for hiring me 7 years ago and allowing me to continue my career in fluid power.  Thank you Scott for your support and confidence in me!  It has been a pleasure working with you and I wish you continued success!  I also thank co-founder, Mike Emich for helping me with my career.  Mike has been a good friend and a steady good influence on many sales people.  Thank you Mike!
