FPTC

The 2019 Fluid Power Technology Conference got underway this morning with he pre-event workshops including Advanced Hydraulics and Basic Hydraulics.  These two classes are very well attended today and it appears that everyone in attendance is satisfied with the content being presented.

It is great to be back in Milwaukee at MSOE and I will have more updates.

We have another great issue planned for the September 2017 issue of Fluid Power World .   As usual, we will be covering all of the fluid power bases with pneumatics, industrial fluid power, mobile hydraulics, a product focus, and our regular monthly departments. Our Mobile Hydraulics feature article will take a look at the selection and function of reservoirs in mobile systems.   All mobile designers and maintainers should be interested in learning more from this content. For our Pneumatics feature, we will be doing an overview of pneumatic component and system design with an article on Pneumatics 101.   It is always good to make sure that the basics are covered no matter how technically competent the members of our audience seem to be. Everyone is a Writer

Keeping in line with the importance of good content for companies selling fluid power components, I am working my way through a book on the topic and I would like to share it. The title is Everybody Writes:  Your Go-To-Guide for creating Ridiculously Good Content by Ann Handley.  I recommend this book and others like it that guide people through the art of writing, even if you are not gifted at it. This book gives some great advice on how to put together words and sentences to communicate with your audience.  A lot of it is common sense but the author packages the information in a very easy-to-understand presentation. Service

I have written about this book before, called  Knock Your Socks Off Service.   I have revisited it several times and each time I learn more.  Being in a service mode with customers is common sense but this book makes many points about how to best carry that out. Being in service mode all the time is really difficult and is probably only possible if you incorporate that into your way of living.  If you make it a regular practice of making service to others a way of life, then Knock Your Socks Performance not only becomes possible but it comes naturally.
